What Does the K-9 Dryer Cover Gasket Do?

The cover gasket is the foam strip installed inside the dryer end cap. It creates a seal where the end cap meets the dryer housing, helping keep the dryer properly sealed during operation.

Over time, the foam can deteriorate, loosen, compress, or separate from the cover. Replacing a worn gasket helps restore the proper fit and seal of the end cap.

When Should the Cover Gasket Be Replaced?

Inspect the gasket whenever the dryer end cap is removed for maintenance or repair. Replacement may be appropriate if you notice:

• Torn or deteriorated foam
• Gasket separating from the end cap
• Missing sections of gasket material
• Foam that has become permanently flattened or compressed
• Loose or failing adhesive
• An improper seal between the end cap and dryer housing

Gasket Glue Is Recommended for Installation

Gasket adhesive is recommended when installing this replacement cover gasket. The old gasket and remaining adhesive should be removed before the replacement gasket is installed.

Apply the appropriate gasket glue where the previous gasket was fitted, position the new gasket, and allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24 hours before reassembling and using the dryer.

Cover Gasket vs. Body Gasket

K-9 dryers use different gaskets for different areas of the machine. This product is the Cover Gasket, which installs inside the removable dryer end cap.

The K-9 Dryer Universal Body Gasket is the wider foam gasket installed inside the main dryer housing around the motor assembly. If your dryer is already disassembled for repair, inspect both gaskets and replace any foam that has become damaged or deteriorated.

K-9 Cover Gasket Installation

1. Unplug the dryer before beginning service.
2. Remove the end cap and existing cover gasket.
3. Remove the remaining old gasket adhesive from the installation area.
4. Apply an appropriate layer of gasket glue where the old gasket was installed.
5. Position the new cover gasket correctly inside the end cap.
6. Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24 hours before reassembling and operating the dryer.

Installation requirements can vary depending on the dryer and its condition. If you are uncomfortable disassembling or servicing your dryer, have the repair completed by someone experienced with professional grooming equipment.
