What Does the K-9 Dryer Body Gasket Do?

The body gasket sits inside the main dryer housing around the motor or motors. Although simple in appearance, it performs several important functions within the dryer.

• Helps create an airtight seal around the motor assembly
• Reduces unwanted air leakage inside the housing
• Helps hold the motor securely in position
• Absorbs motor vibration
• Supports efficient airflow through the dryer

A properly fitted body gasket is particularly important when installing or replacing a dryer motor because an old gasket may be compressed, damaged, or deteriorated during disassembly.

When Should the Body Gasket Be Replaced?

Inspect the body gasket whenever the dryer is opened for motor service or other internal repairs. Replacement may be appropriate if you notice:

• Torn or deteriorated foam

Apply gasket glue where the previous gasket was fitted, position the new body gasket correctly, and allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24 hours before reinstalling the motor and operating the dryer.

Body Gasket vs. Cover Gasket

K-9 dryers use separate gaskets for different areas of the machine.

The Body Gasket shown here is the wider foam gasket installed inside the main dryer housing around the motor assembly. It helps seal and secure the motor while dampening vibration.

The K-9 Dryer Universal Cover Gasket is the thinner foam gasket installed inside the removable dryer end cap. If your dryer is already disassembled for repair, inspect both gaskets and replace any foam that has become torn, compressed, loose, or deteriorated.

K-9 Body Gasket Installation

1. Unplug the dryer before beginning any service.
2. Open the dryer housing and remove the components necessary to access the body gasket.
3. Remove the old body gasket and remaining adhesive.
4. Clean the gasket mounting area as needed.
5. Apply gasket glue where the original gasket was installed.
6. Position the new body gasket correctly inside the housing.
7. Allow the gasket glue to cure for at least 24 hours.
8. Reinstall the motor and reassemble the dryer.
